The Renthal R4-2 SRS Road Chain is a sealed ring chain developed for road applications. It uses Renthal’s Self Regulating Seal (SRS) technology to help extend chain service life by maintaining a tighter seal as the chain wears.
The specially developed SRS ring is pre-loaded during assembly to create a spring effect. Unlike conventional O-rings and X-rings, which may lose sealing effectiveness as they wear, the SRS ring can unload itself during use and continue maintaining contact against the side plates. This design helps keep specially formulated grease around the critical pin and bushing areas for longer while helping keep dirt, water and other contaminants out.
