Racing isn't just entry fees and travel, it's a whole lot more!
I use my 2002 Fleetwood Bounder 39z RV for travel, accommodations, and to power the pits with its 7,500w diesel generator. I picked this up around the covid shutdowns for the cost of a mid 2000's pickup truck and have put 65,000 miles on it since. I will typically bring another rider as a copilot or host other riders in the pits to help offset the cost of the weekend. We'll hit the store and load up the fridge + cook our meals to offset the cost of travel, restaurants, and hotels.
I am a dealer for many products, so I get my parts at cost. I am also my own mechanic, tuner & suspension guy. I work trackside and run the website from my laptop most of the year. Even though I save a lot of money being the parts supplier, the mechanic, and living in the RV while on the road, it still adds up fast!
A typical club race weekend on a modern 1000cc motorcycle consists of:
- Friday track day entry: $250-$350
- Saturday / Sunday race entry fees: $450-$600
- Practice fuel: $50
- Race day fuel: $280
- The tire bill... $970-$1400
- Brake pads every other weekend @$250 per set / 2 weekends = $125 per weekend
- Oil change every weekend: $80
- Chains and sprockets: approximately $1000 per season / 7 rounds = $142 per weekend
- Diesel fuel for the RV & generator: 6-8 mpg RV / .5 gallons per hour Generator
- Food and Drinks for the weekend: $125-$200
- Not included are: Starlink internet so I can work remotely & post race videos for you guys, crashes (bike and gear), annual race engine refresh, bi-annual suspension service costs, RV maintenance, generator maintenance, self-maintenance! (Racing at 52 years old hurts sometimes... ok, every time!)
Your support helps lower the cost of the above in the following race events:
- OMRRA & WMRRA 2026 series (OR & WA)
- Final AFM Round at Thunderhill in 2026 (CA)
- Battle of the Champions invitational race in Las Vegas, October 17th & 18th, 2026 (NV)
- CVMA Winter Series in 2026-2027 (Desert Center, CA)
For those friends and family who have helped out this season, I cannot thank you enough! $20 doesn't sound like a lot in the scope of things, but when 40-50 people step in, it absolutely makes a difference!
