The ProTaper Race Spec (RS) rear sprocket is a 42-tooth replacement sprocket designed for select Honda XR600R applications from 1991 through 2000. Its angled mud-groove design creates a self-cleaning effect during operation, helping shed mud that can contribute to horsepower loss and sprocket wear. The grooves are positioned on both sides of every tooth to help maintain chain contact in muddy riding conditions.
Precision CNC machining and the sprocket’s unique tooth layout provide up to 40% more tooth surface area than competing sprockets, according to the manufacturer. This increased contact area is designed to improve chain engagement and contribute to extended sprocket life. Countersinks automatically center the sprocket to the hub during installation, eliminating the need for a hub center guide.
