The BMC FM249/09 air filter is designed for the 1999–2002 Yamaha YZF-R6. It uses high-performance materials to increase airflow while improving filtration, with containment of impurities as small as 7 microns compared with 10 microns for the OEM filter. The filter is made from multilayer cotton gauze soaked with low-viscosity oil and covered by an epoxy-coated alloy mesh to help protect against petrol fumes and oxidation caused by air humidity.
This washable replacement air filter is supplied pre-oiled and can be washed and regenerated using the appropriate BMC regeneration kit.
