Built with Arai's Peripherally Belted Super Complex Laminate Construction (PB-SCLC) shell, the Quantum-X balances strength, performance, and weight-conscious design. Its Variable Axis System (VAS) shield system lowers the pivot point to create a smoother shell surface in the critical temple area, helping improve the helmet's ability to glance off impacts. The VAS shield latch securely retains the shield while providing smooth, intuitive operation, including access to the shield's de-mist function.
The helmet includes QVF three-position intake and QVR exhaust ducts to promote effective airflow while riding. The side vent continues to function as an exhaust outlet even when the front shutter on the top duct is closed. FCS cheek pads use contoured shaping and multiple foam densities supported by a foam spring to cradle the face, reduce wind intrusion, and make helmet removal easier. A water-repellent ES chin cover is installed to improve the helmet's egg-shaped profile, smooth airflow, increase mouth-area exhaust, and reduce wind noise from below.
