The Quantum-X uses Arai’s Peripherally Belted Super Complex Laminate Construction (PB-SCLC) shell, combining multiple materials and manufacturing techniques for a strong, efficient design. Its Variable Axis System (VAS) shield system lowers the pivot point by an average of 24 mm, creating a smoother shell surface in the critical temple area. This design helps improve glance-off performance during an impact. The VAS latch captures and securely holds the shield closed, while the larger latch supports intuitive operation and includes a de-mist function. The included VAS-Max Vision shield accepts a Pinlock MaxVision lens, and a Pinlock 120 MaxVision lens is included for improved fog resistance.
Airflow is managed by QVF three-position intake ducts and QVR exhaust ducts, supporting effective ventilation during changing riding conditions. The side vent continues to function as an exhaust vent even when the front shutter on the top duct is closed. A water-repellent ES chin cover comes installed to enhance the helmet’s egg-shaped profile, smooth airflow, increase exhaust from the mouth area, and help reduce wind noise from below. FCS cheek pads use contoured shaping, multiple foam densities, and a foam spring to cradle the face, improve comfort, simplify helmet removal, and help block additional wind noise.
