The Arai Contour-X Helmet combines touring-focused ventilation, aerodynamic refinement, and Arai HELMETS protective design in a comfortable full-face package. This Mark Yellow, medium-size helmet features a peripherally belted complex laminate construction shell with integrated side ducts and an additional super fiber belt in a critical area. The shell uses Arai’s Variable Axis System (VAS), which lowers the visor mounting position to create a smoother shape around the temple areas and improve the helmet’s ability to glance off energy. A flared shell opening also makes putting the helmet on and taking it off easier while preserving the snug fit expected from an Arai helmet.
The distinctive 3D Arai logo duct provides two central intake ports measuring approximately 0.39 inches and is only about 0.14 inches deep. Its short-stroke lever is easy to operate with summer or winter gloves, allowing the duct to be opened or closed quickly. When the logo is in its normal position, the vent is open, helping riders confirm its setting at a glance. The duct is designed to break away during an impact. A sliding chin vent offers three positions—open, midway, and closed—to provide substantial airflow through a replaceable filter, while its thicker actuator is glove-friendly.
At the rear, the one-piece aerodynamic spoiler and exhaust system is operated by a three-position switch. Inspired by the Corsair-X DF-X2 design and reworked for touring, it draws air through three shell ports while smoothing airflow over and around the helmet. This helps improve stability and reduce buffeting during highway riding and overtaking. The lightweight spoiler is designed to crush or break away in an impact without affecting the helmet’s protective performance. The Contour-X also accommodates communication system installation on the shell exterior without compromising the inner EPS liner. Flat shell sides simplify intercom fitment, and a discreet stitched opening inside the neck roll helps installers manage excess speaker wiring for a clean final setup.
