Engineered for protection during angled impacts, the Youth SM3 uses low-friction surfaces on the inner and outer construction to help reduce rotational forces. A low-friction coating on the main EPS liner creates a slip-plane effect, helping manage rotational acceleration that can occur during certain oblique impacts. The visor release system is calibrated to release at a predetermined force, helping reduce transmitted forces to the rider’s neck during an impact.
Ventilation is supported by ten intake ports and seven exhaust ports, with the visor shaped to help direct airflow into the helmet. The comfort liner uses recycled materials, while integrated hydration-tube channels in the cheek pads add convenience for extended rides. A soft 25 mm chin strap, stainless-steel D-rings, and an adjustable fit system help provide a secure, comfortable fit. Crown and cheek pads are available in different thicknesses as replacement components, allowing the fit to be tailored to the rider’s head.
