The ALPINESTARS SMX Waterproof Jacket is designed for sport riding and is Tech-Air® 5 ready. Its engineered sports body-mapped fit, precurved sleeves, and strategically positioned stretch panel inserts support riding performance while allowing expansion when the Alpinestars Airbag System inflates. The jacket is also designed to provide an anatomical fit when the airbag system is not fitted.
The chassis combines poly-fabric and stretch softshell materials with a 2L waterproof membrane for comfort, durability, light weight, and wet-weather performance. A durable water-repellent treatment on the fixed waterproof membrane provides additional protection in wet conditions. The detachable thermal liner, with 100g insulation in the body and 80g in the sleeves, allows the jacket to be configured for changing climates.
Protection features include Nucleon Flex Plus armor at the shoulders and elbows and DFS Lite shoulders with a dynamic friction shield for enhanced abrasion resistance. Nucleon chest Level 1 and Nucleon Level 1 and 2 back protectors are available as accessory upgrades. The jacket also includes a low-profile sports collar with soft lining, an elongated rear for added coverage while riding, and a shock cord waist for secure closure. Storage includes two front zippered pockets, two chest pockets, an inner waterproof document pocket, and two inner liner pockets. This black, dark gray, and bright red jacket is size XL.
