The Alpinestars Tech-Air® 3 is a lightweight, autonomous motorcycle airbag system designed for touring riders, urban commuters, and light off-road adventure riders. This black 2XL wearable system can be worn over or under a motorcycle jacket and is compatible with suitable Alpinestars jackets, leather jackets, and textile jackets that provide enough room for airbag inflation. The Tech-Air® 3 uses the Tech-Air® 5 Street crash detection algorithm, refined through more than 2 million kilometers of riding data and over 2,000 crashes. Six integrated sensors, including three accelerometers and three gyroscopes, monitor riding conditions and help identify dangerous situations such as lowside and highside crashes, including incidents that occur while stopped. When a crash is detected, the system activates the protective airbag within milliseconds, depending on the airbag size, covering the rider’s full chest and back for comprehensive upper-body protection. An integrated back protector pocket can accommodate additional passive back protection.
An LED display on the front chest shows the system’s operational status and includes a haptic alert that vibrates when the system is armed or when the battery is running low. Bluetooth connectivity links the airbag system with the Tech-Air® app, allowing riders to monitor operational and battery status while also reviewing detailed ride information through MyRide. The Alpinestars Tech-Air 3 combines versatile jacket compatibility, intelligent crash detection, and active airbag protection in a practical design intended for everyday street riding and extended motorcycle travel.
